Prevention of Wrinkles

The best way to prevent wrinkle formation is to avoid aging at all costs. Unfortunately that is not possible at least not at the moment. However there are other things you can do to avoid the aging to occur rapidly. Some are very simple measures that I haven't given much thought to until the last 5 years or so. I decided to let you know some of the secrets of anti- aging. Sure you can buy all sorts of creams and potion etc, but many are found in your own household already. Here they are. Not in any particular list. The first and utmost important one is to AVOID THE SUN. Our biggest enemy is the sun. in all my experience as a physician, I have seem what the sun does to my patients and to my own skin. The sun glow that you may get in the summer is not worth it. Believe me! You will come to regret all those years of basking out in the sun as you reach your 30's, 40's, 50's and so on. The damaging UVA and UVB, causes changes in the molecular structure of the cell, causing not only wrinkling but also increasing your chances of melanoma, squamous cell, and basal cell. There are ways to protect your skin from aging, such as avoidance and sun screens.

Now the second enemy is smoking. After years of experience in treating patients, I used to play with myself and my patients. I could with 90% accuracy predict whether a patient smoked or not based on the visible texture of the skin and the wrinkle formation pattern. Smokers tend to have more wrinkles in general around the lips, around the cheeks and around the eyes. The skin has yellowish glow to it, rather than a pink, shinier glow. The color of the skin has a lot to do with the oxygenation of the skin via the many capillaries we have. There are other tale signs of smokers as well, but I just want to focus on the skin. In comparing the smokers with the non-smokers, I can see a difference in the skin even years after the patient quit smoking.

Another great culprit in causing our skins to age is the yo-yo weight loss and gain over the years. I am a big culprit on this one. Although I have never smoked and so my skin doesn't show any signs of aging from this. I have done the yo-yo dieting and I regret it tremendously. Of course had I known better I would have kept my weight more stable. But these habits are difficult to change.

The last one is diets. We know that diets rich in fruits and vegetables are much better for our skin as well. Diets rich in resveratrol help our skin. Resveratrol, cannot be encapsulated, at least not yet. In order to get enough resveratrol in your diet, you need to eat fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, and grapes, or drink lots of wine. I don't recommend drinking lots of red wine, for obvious reasons, one of which is liver failure. Diets rich in animal fat increase the aging process. See the skin of vegetarians as opposed to non vegetarians and you will start to see a difference in the glow of the skin.
